President's Message September 2016
We wish everyone a great Labor Day weekend . . . have fun and stay safe! It’s hard to believe that summer is almost over and we’re now heading towards the finish line in November! I hope ALL of you will be supporting Donald Trump as our Presidential nominee. I know I’m probably preaching to the choir but it is essential that we put Trump in the White House . . . we MUST keep HRC out! There will be devastating repercussions for all of us if she wins. We cannot let that happen! We’ve outlined many reasons to vote for Trump before and I’m sure most of you will agree that it’s imperative that we vote for all our Republicans from the top of the ticket down to the local levels. We can’t afford an under vote. WE MUST ALL UNITE AND VOTE REPUBLICAN! UNITED WE STAND - DIVIDED WE FALL!
Check out the National Federation of Republican Women’s road tour with “Rosie” and her schedule here in Colorado on page 9. We were supposed to host one of the stops in our area but, so far, we’ve been unable to locate a venue where Rosie is able to park so we can set up a 1 ½ to 2-hour rally starting at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 10th. Most of the other stops are at the County GOP Offices (and the Cracker Barrel locations) since most of the Malls, businesses, etc., have corporate rules against having political entities on their properties. If you know of any place in Douglas Co. along the I-25 corridor, let me know immediately and we can be placed on the schedule. Otherwise, I hope as many of you as possible will make it to one of the scheduled stops. It will be a great opportunity to meet NFRW President Carrie Almond.
We have a great program scheduled for the September 21st meeting so please invite your family and friends to join us. In order to give the four-panel forum from the Independence Institute as much time as possible to cover some of the important ballot initiatives and a Q&A, we will cut down on much of our regular meeting agenda. We will only acknowledge our elected officials and will give only our candidates a short time to speak to us. Our “regularly scheduled programming” will resume in October.
We had a wonderful turnout on June 22nd for our U.S. Senate candidates. I believe any one of them would have been a great candidate to oppose the Democrat Senator that we now have. (I even hate to say his name!) As you know, Darryl Glenn came out on top after the Primary so we must get behind him in this tough election. Bennet has tons of money behind him so Darryl needs our help now!
I know many of you may be surprised that we’re having a NON-AUCTION AUCTION this year instead of our usual Silent/Live Auction to benefit the CO Senate and House Legislative Funds. Please see our reasoning behind this in the flyer on page 5. In addition to all the political activities going on in this election year, we had to consider all the donors who gave us such great auction items and the fact that the Auction depended upon how many people were able to actually attend the Auction itself. If we had a low turnout, there were less people to bid on the items and less money taken in compared to what the donors actually spent on their items. We thought we’d try this avenue this year and see if those generous donors would again support us via a monetary donation where we would get the whole value of their donation. We look forward to hearing from all of you! This is your opportunity to help support our Republican candidates state-wide so please be as generous as you can! Thank you, one and all!
Yours in Freedom and Liberty,
Marsha Haeflein DCRW President
