We have been looking forward to having Sheriff Weekly visit our luncheon meeting for an update on his strong crime fighting efforts and the trends he is seeing in the County.  Bring questions on public safety and other sheriff activities.
Perhaps more to our mission, bring your checkbooks, cash, or cards to purchase Silent Auction items, to raise funds for statewide candidates!  DCRW fundraises throughout the year, and we always look forward to the Silent Auction offerings as a fun opportunity.  Details are available here, and items to place for sale should be directed to Holly Kluth before May 15 (hkluth50@gmail.com 303-880-6696).

May brings us Special District elections – often unnoticed – always a different process than regular elections.  Please check your district websites this week for instructions on how to vote by mail or in person for contested seats.  Highlands Ranch Metro District, South Metro Fire Protection District, and South Suburban Recreation District are the biggest and most well known.  Residential metro districts also have elections, so be sure to check those as well.

The real talk of the town is County Home Rule.  DCRW will not take a position, as is our policy on such matters, and it is even more important not to place a thumb on the scale at this time, when there is a lawsuit pending, strong feelings, and political positions being drawn in the sand.  Members can view several resources for more information, including a video of tonight’s very informative forum (on social media), and a live town hall tomorrow at 6pm.  Find information about the town hall here, and information about the election here.
