President’s Message May 2025

President's Messages
We have been looking forward to having Sheriff Weekly visit our luncheon meeting for an update on his strong crime fighting efforts and the trends he is seeing in the County.  Bring questions on public safety and other sheriff activities. Perhaps more to our mission, bring your checkbooks, cash, or cards to purchase Silent Auction items, to raise funds for statewide candidates!  DCRW fundraises throughout the year, and we always look forward to the Silent Auction offerings as a fun opportunity.  Details are available here, and items to place for sale should be directed to Holly Kluth before May 15 (hkluth50@gmail.com 303-880-6696). May brings us Special District elections – often unnoticed – always a different process than regular elections.  Please check your district websites this week for instructions on how to vote by…

President’s Message April 2025

Fundraising, President's Messages
No doubt that Douglas County Republicans are watching the news and social media this week! The Colorado GOP has elected officers; the Board of County Commissioners are planning to ask voters about becoming a Home Rule County; and our State legislators are fighting daily to enact better protections for our safety and families. On less optimistic fronts, the Governor is poised to act on some of the toughest firearms legislation in the country. (Even the New Jersey State Legislature lags behind Colorado activism these days!) Please speak up in your circles, and when called to assist. Your voice matters! Regardless of the topic, DCRW members may know that their donations to elect strong Republicans to State office have already made a real difference. Never have we seen a fight such…

President’s Message March 2025

President's Messages
We are honored to feature Darcy Kofol, Senior Deputy District Attorney serving our new 23rd Judicial District at our March 19 Luncheon Meeting. Ms. Kofol is a crime fighter of extraordinary proportions, brings  to Douglas County many years of expertise in prosecuting major drug cases. The Politics of Spring in Colorado brings us Metro District Elections, GOP Organizing Meetings, and a slow drip of candidate announcements for future races. Candidates for neighborhood Metro Districts, South Metro Fire, and South Suburban Recreation will soon begin their campaigns. We look forward to strong conservative representation on these boards which steward property tax revenue to provide essential services like water, fire and new development infrastructure. Elections are in early May; most Districts will use mail ballots. The Colorado GOP Officers’ races are heating up…

President’s Message February 2025

President's Messages
My friends, please forgive the slight delay in sending you this monthly message – for it was in the hope of bringing good news, which I believe is now in order! Organizing meetings for county Republican Central Committees in the Denver Metro Region are complete, and we have some promising results. These meetings are held every two years, to elect county officers, elect officers for electoral House, Senate and Judicial districts, and to elect bonus members for each. We have been watching closely, in conjunction with the buzz surrounding the State Party events. I can report that, although Jefferson County remains largely unified under one tent, Weld, Arapahoe, Douglas and El Paso County places are now filled with a balance of officers and bonus members that come from different tents.…

President's Messages
DCRW Members, I write today from the Vacancy Committee Meeting for State Senate District 30, serving Highlands Ranch, Castle Pines, Lone Tree and parts of unincorporated Douglas County.  What a process this is -- democracy in action to identify our representative in the State Senate, fulfilling the final two years of Commissioner Van Winkle's Senate term. CONGRATULATIONS GO TO SENATOR-ELECT JOHN CARSON, who is due to be sworn in within a few days. The next major meeting for the Republican Party is slated to be February 3, where officers of the county party will be elected.  Keep your eyes out for our newsletter, which will share information about the candidates for those offices and other important information.
