This last month has been one of devastation to our Country! With the hurricanes in Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico, it seemed like we could take no more! And then came the Las Vegas massacre! What a heartbreaking tragedy! As I’m writing this, we still do not know the reason why this man did such a horrendous act of evil. We have seen the worst and best of humanity. But the acts of heroism shown to the victims of the hurricanes and the victims of the slaughter in Vegas go to shine a light on how wonderful this Country is and how we care for our fellow citizens. As this is being written, we are all disheartened and concerned about another Hurricane headed for Florida . . . Irma looks to be catastrophic so our prayers are with all the people in Irma’s path. Happy Mother’s Day to all of our mothers, grandmothers, and great-grandmothers! Don’t forget to see or call your mother on her special day . . . Sunday, May 14th! Also of great importance is Memorial Day on May 29th. This is not just a time to have a day off work and a long weekend, celebrate the start of the summer season, or have a picnic or BBQ. It is a formal American holiday which is set aside for us to remember our military service members who have died in the line of duty. I might also add that we should remember ALL of our military service members who are no longer with us. All gave some . . . and some gave all! May they all rest in peace!…

Can the things going on in Washington, D.C., get any more divisive? We are certainly experiencing a divide in our Country like never before. I sincerely hope the Republicans can UNITE so we can move forward! Hopefully the R’s can work out a plan to repeal and replace Obamacare that will please both sides and, more importantly, be the very best plan for our citizens. This is what they promised and this is what they should deliver. This week we are also looking to the confirmation of Colorado’s own Neil Gorsuch as the next Supreme Court Justice. It has been 40+ days now since the Inauguration of President Donald Trump (Hooray!) and he has already accomplished a monumental amount of actions that he promised us that he would do during his campaign! Now if only the Dems would get with the act and confirm the rest of his Cabinet and lower nominees, he will really get the Trump Train rolling! I hope that all of you had a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, and New Year’s with family and friends! There were a number of our members who had some difficult challenges over the holidays but we’re praying that they are all on the road to recovery! WELL, we all had a great early Christmas present with the November 8th election, didn’t we?! With Donald Trump’s polls actively rising, we can only hope that in these last few days that he can pull off a victory. I know many of you have been doing yeoman’s work in walking precincts, making phone calls, attending fundraisers and events, etc., but to those of you who haven’t done so yet, please get off the couch NOW!
